Back in the day, Sandra was a croupier at one of Liverpool’s glitziest casinos. That’s where she met Steven, her future husband, and fell in love. But now, a lifetime later, in the wake of Steven’s unexpected death, she finds herself facing financial ruin.
With no more cards left to play, Sandra must leave her hometown, and move in with her son, William, and his wife in - of all places - Clapham. Sandra and William have barely spoken to each other for the past 20 years. And as she adapts - or doesn’t - to her strange new surroundings, we begin to understand why.
A new play written and performed by Sam Liu and directed by Lucia Bonbright, SANDRA is a story shot through with Scouse heart and humour, an ode to resilience and survival - but what, in the end, does survival really cost?
