Marcel Music presents a bespoke, second Concert for Mozart Fest; violinist Kiok Son is joined by composer and pianist Andrew Campling.

This is the second concert in the church's annual Mozart Fest. The programme includes Mozart's Violin Sonata No. 18 in G major K301 and unaccompanied music for violin by JS Bach. Also featured is Andrew Campling's Suite d'Images for violin and piano.

Biography

Kiok Son

Violin

Kiok Son was born in Korea and started playing the violin at the age of twelve. She continued playing violin as an undergraduate in Korea, studying with Professor Jiyoon Ahn. In 2017 Kiok performed regularly with the Sejong String Chamber Orchestra. In 2018 she got the opportunity to perform Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with the Sejong Chamber Orchestra. In 2020 Kiok accepted an offer from the Royal College of Music to do a Master of Performance degree with Professor Radu Blidar.  An ardent orchestral musician, Kiok has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under Mats Zetterqvist, and with the RCM Symphony Orchestra under Thomas Zehetmair in 2021 and under Kevin John Edusei in 2022. She is currently based in London, and performs regularly with a number of orchestras including the Marcel Sinfonia.

Andrew Campling

Composer & Pianist

A graduate of Oxford University, Andrew is a member of the Ivors Academy of Composers. His music has featured on BBC Radio and has been performed in venues such as St Paul’s Cathedral, the Purcell Room and the Royal Albert Hall. Andrew’s music has also received performances in France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, USA and Australia. His piano music is available on a number of CD's including 'Celtic Rhapsody' and 'Piano Music'. Andrew has composed three symphonies, ten concertos, and many choral works. He directs the London Docklands Singers, the Thames Chamber Choir, the Choir of the London School of Economics and the Marcel Sinfonia. The Sinfonia gives concerts regularly in St Paul’s Covent Garden and has performed in Southwark Cathedral, Brentwood Cathedral and Christ Church Cathedral Dublin.
