Join us for Mozart’s celebrated Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor K466, a work renowned for the dramatic power of its opening movement, the beauty of its Romance, and the sheer vitality of its finale. Our programme includes Andrew Campling’s atmospheric Fantasia on Hymn Tunes, dedicated to his mother Anne (1933-2016). After the interval we hear Mozart’s Requiem K626, one of the finest works of the Classical repertoire. In the words of Karl Geiringer, Mozart’s Requiem is a composition ‘as transcendental as it is human, and out of tremor and guilt it leads us towards peace and salvation’.
