'Dazzlingly virtuosic', 'flawless, passionate and driven', and 'mesmerising to watch', Scottish guitarist Ian Watt (b.1991) has appeared in concert across the world, including in the Americas and the Far East, and recorded several albums for Nimbus, with BBC Music Magazine praising his 'exceptional range of timbre'. His international prizes include 1st at the 2011 Heinsberg International Guitar Competition and 2nd at the 2009 Parkening International Guitar Competition (USA), where he was hailed as an '18-year-old phenom'. A respected teacher, he was appointed to the guitar faculty of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland at the age of 21 and, in 2026, joined the staff of the Royal Academy of Music.
His lunchtime concert at St Paul's will focus on the guitar's Romantic tradition, with works both virtuosic and reflective by Regondi, Pujol, Llobet and Barrios.
