The Marcel Sinfonia 

The Marcel Sinfonia brings together graduates from leading conservatoires including the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. The Sinfonia performs regularly here at the Actors Church and in Southwark Cathedral, and has also performed in Brentwood Cathedral, Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral, and The Signet Library, Edinburgh. The orchestra's repertoire includes concertos by Vivaldi, Marcello, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Schumann and Poulenc. The Sinfonia's name derives from the Marcel Suite, composed by the orchestra's musical director Andrew Campling.

Samantha Bristow

Flute

Samantha graduated with 1st Class honours from the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Karen Jones, William Bennett, and Baroque flute with Lisa Beznosiuk. Samantha subsequently studied with Professor Robert Winn in Cologne. 

Following her studies, Samantha has worked across the UK as a flautist with orchestras including BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. She has also performed regularly with both her flute and her guitar duo partners for Live Music Now, and for concert societies across England.

Milly Deering

Trombone

Originally from Northampton, Milly moved to London five years ago to study trombone at the Royal College of Music. During this time, she has continued to learn under the tutelage of Byron Fulcher, Lindsay Shilling, Becky Smith, Matthew Knight and Rupert Whitehead. In 2024 Milly was awarded the second prize at the British Trombone Society (BTS) Alto Trombone competition; she was also a key member of the trombone choir that went on to win the BTS inter- collegiate competition in both 2022 and 2024. Milly is now doing a Masters Degree at the Royal College of Music.

Kazunari Shiraiso

Piano

Kazu began playing piano at the age of six. He studied with Janet Nicolls, Venera Bojkova and Valentina Seferinova, and has participated in masterclasses led by Jonathan Plowright and Martino Tirimo. Kazu has performed regularly with the Marcel Sinfonia in venues across London, Bristol, Edinburgh and Dublin. His recent solo appearances include Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 13 and Andrew Campling’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Kazu has also sung with the Choir of the London School of Economics, London Docklands Singers and Thames Chamber Choir. He is currently Global Reporting Operations Manager for PwC. 

Andrew Campling

Conductor

A graduate of Keble College, Oxford, Andrew gained a MMus in composition from Goldsmiths’ College, London. He is a member of the Ivors Academy of Composers and Songwriters. Andrew directs the Marcel Sinfonia, the London Docklands Singers, the Choir of the London School of Economics and the Thames Chamber Choir. His compositions have been performed in Westminster Abbey and the Royal Albert Hall, and various venues abroad. Andrew has composed many choral works, three symphonies, ten concertos, and an opera, ’Queen Marie of Romania’, to a libretto by Dominic Mereworth. Current commissions include an overture for the Albion Orchestra. www.andrewcampling.com
