As an educator, he has taught at the RCM and RCM Junior College for several years, is associated closely with the Royal Albert Hall, with whom he has devised numerous education and community programmes, and has worked with the charity Create for many years. As a tuba player, Mike plays regularly with most of the UK’s top orchestras. Mike is delighted to be performing John Webb’s Tuba Concerto - a rare solo adventure.

John Webb

Composer and Conductor

In 2016 John was awarded a British Composers Award for ‘Into the Light’ composed for two thousand children to perform at the Royal Albert Hall. More recently his score for the animated film ‘Beware of Trains’ (jointly composed with Oliver Cripps), which graphically captures the experience of post-partum psychosis, was shortlisted for a Music and Sound award in the Best Original Composition in a Short Film category; the film was also longlisted for a Bafta. As a workshop leader John leads projects for organisations including London Philharmonic Orchestra, Oxford International Song Festival, Little Missenden Festival, London Sinfonietta, National Theatre, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Academy of Music, and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
