Andrew Campling's Symphony No. 3 - a vivid portrayal of the sea's many aspects and moods - receives its premiere by the Marcel Sinfonia at St Paul's Church.

This is complemented by an exhibition of paintings of the sea by the award-winning artist Chanakya Prakash Ranjan. The concert also features two classics: Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, and Vivaldi's effervescent Gloria.

Concert proceeds to THORN. THORN builds technology and programs to fight online sexual abuse and eliminate child sexual abuse material from the internet for good.

The organisation was founded by American actors Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.

Biographies

Andrew Campling

Conductor/Composer

Andrew Campling has composed three symphonies, ten concertos and many choral works. His music has featured on BBC Radio, and has been performed in St Paul's Cathedral, the Purcell Room and the Royal Albert Hall, and as far afield as USA, India and Australia. He is founder/director of the Marcel Sinfonia, which brings together graduates from the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Andrew also directs the London Docklands Singers and the Choir of the London School of Economics.

Chanakya Prakash Ranjan

Artist

Chanakya Prakash Ranjan is an award-winning tribal art curator. He works in the development sector, particularly in rural education and polity. Born in a small village in India, Chanakya taught himself to paint by studying the techniques and skills of 19th century masters. He loves exploring different mediums, which he uses for his very traditional approach to painting. His original works are in the collections of some of the prominent Indian collectors. Chanakya is currently studying policy at LSE. The proceeds from this evening's art sale will go to THORN.
