From cinema to political theatre, cabaret halls to concert halls, Angela and Valerie are exploring the wide range of composers in Berlin and Paris who were influenced by jazz and popular music.

Angela Novy

Pianist

Angela Novy recently completed her Master of Music and Performance from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She received her Bachelor of Music from James Madison University. Prior to moving to London, she lived in New York City working as an accompanist in musical theatre, classical art song, and ballet. She accompanied cabarets in various venues in the city and taught musical theatre in schools throughout Brooklyn.

She gained her experience accompanying vocal lessons and final exams at New York University. She also worked for New York Theatre Ballet accompanying the classes in the dance school and beginner adult classes.

Angela studied the connections between politics and music in the first half of the 20th century during her time at Guildhall. She curated recitals on post-war Paris, Berlin, and England, including both art song and popular music. She is also passionate about supporting new music, so she worked with composer Aurora Nishevci, violinst Giullia Lussoso, and poet European Bob to premier the work Not My Lover, which discusses English politics. The team later joined a collective of artists to produce the album Hindsight is 2020. She currently lives in north London working as an accompanist and an educator

Valerie Wong

Soprano

Valerie Wong, Hong Kong-born Soprano took part in multiple opera productions including L'elisir d'amore by Donizetti as Gianetta, Les Contes d'Hoffmann by Offenbach as La Voix, Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini as La Badessa and La Ciesca, Semele by Handel as Ino, Così fan tutte and Le Nozze Di Figaro by Mozart, Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II, La Cenerentola by Rossini, Don Giovanni by Mozart, Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, Otello by Giuseppe Verdi.

Wong visited Taipei as the representative of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, for performance exchange with the students from the Taipei National University of the Art, and the Taipei Philharmonic Opera Studio in 2016. Recently in June 2017, Wong was also invited to perform in the HKSAR 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert – “Two Decades of Elegance” in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China.

Wong graduated with a Master of Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under John Evans. She also obtained the Bachelor of Music (Honours) under renowned soprano Nancy Yuen in and Diploma of Music of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2015. Wong was a recipient of the Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir Scholarship, Michael Rippon Memorial Scholarship, and the Guildhall Financial Award
