Requiem to Cancer - a 24 hour Come and Sing of four Requiems and a specially commissioned life affirming anthem. Every penny raised goes directly to Cancer Research UK and the previous 2 events have already raised in excess of £68.000, help us achieve our goal of making that £100,000
After a two-year hiatus, due to the pandemic, the third Requiem to Cancer event will take place on Friday 23rd/Saturday 24th September 2022. Please put the dates in your diary and gird your loins for a long session of wonderful music! The previous 2 events have already raised in excess of £68,000, please help us achieve our goal of making that £100,000 During the course of the event, three major Requiems are rehearsed and sung through.
Cecilia McDowall's new 'Da Vinci Requiem' will be directed by Neil Ferris. Mark Jordan will direct Mozart Requiem and a run-through of Faure Jeremy Jackman will finish the event with Brahms' 'Ein Deutsches Requiem'. Singers wishing to take part are asked to make a minimum donation to CRUK of £50 will have the opportunity to submit the names of people to be read out at Roll Call points during the event - either as a loss to cancer or as a survivor of it.
There will be plenty of breaks, tea & coffee, cakes & savouries and a wine bar. Members of the public, friends and family are very welcome to come into the church throughout the event at no charge. Every single penny donated and raised as part of this event goes to Cancer Research UK. We are very grateful to those individuals who cover the costs of certain major items so that we can achieve this and, notably, to the professional musicians who give their time for free.
Anyone who has already registered and made a donation to CRUK in anticipation of participating in 2020 or 2021, has had their registration carried forward automatically to RtC2022.
