Soprano Jane Hunt and pianist Clive Pollard present Mirror Image, a recital of French and English songs.  

Settings of Paul Verlaine by Claude Debussy (including the first series of Fêtes Galantes) and Madeleine Dring’s Five Betjeman Songs are framed by two short song cycles: Le Bestiaire by Francis Poulenc, and Clive Pollard’s own Six Miniatures.

Biographies

Jane Hunt

Soprano

Jane Hunt was born in London, completed a music degree in Bath and eventually settled in Wiltshire.   She gained a Diploma in Singing Performance under the guidance of Elizabeth Odell.  Jane has attended vocal courses given by Evelyn Tubb and has also received tuition from Isobel Buchanan.  She has given numerous song recitals, venues having included The Holburne Museum in Bath and St Paul’s, Covent Garden.  Jane has performed solos in choral works ranging from Bach to Rutter and has sung several operatic roles.  With Bath Chamber Opera, she gave first performances in 2015 of Women on Top and A Viking in Novgorod by the late Malcolm Hill.  In early music repertoire, Jane performs regularly with Musicke in the Ayre (formed by lutenist Din Ghani in 2011), with forthcoming concerts in Bath, Frome Festival and St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street. 

Clive Pollard

Piano

Clive Pollard studied Piano at the Royal College of Music, and later at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He specialised in Lieder Accompaniment at the Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg. Clive played regularly for the BBC Radio 4 programme “Singing Together” before working as a repetiteur for Pavilion Opera, Icelandic Opera, the Royal Ballet Company and Northern Ballet Theatre. He has worked as Staff Accompanist at Dartington International Summer School and L'Académie de Musique de Sion in Switzerland. As a composer, his song cycle “A Rainbow and a Cuckoo's Song” was recently published by Goodmusic Publishing. Clive is based in London, where he accompanies and coaches singers on the Art Song repertoire.
