The Actors' Church welcomes back Marcel Music for two wonderful violin concertos! The Marcel Sinfonia brings together graduates from leading conservatoires in London such as the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, all to play the magnificent music of Bach, Handel, Mozart and a new composition.
Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor is full of infectious vitality and brio, while the concerto's middle movement reveals great emotional depth. Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major K219 displays music of supreme elegance and beauty, with the finale's 'Turkish' section containing dramatic fire. Our concert also includes Handel's famous overture 'The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba', and the premiere of Andrew Campling's exciting Piano Concerto No. 2, based on American folk themes.
