Bach for Easter
10 April 2022
£17; £10 concessions
The period instruments of the City Bach Collective are joined by London's genre-busting choir to perform two of Bach's most innovative choral works in the inspiring setting of the Actors' Church.
One of London's most beautiful churches provides the setting for two of Bach's greatest choral achievements, preceded by a suite by his eldest son. Stroman also provides an illuminating insight into Bach's methods through his 14 Canons, discovered in 1974 as an appendix to the composer's personal copy of the Goldberg Variations.
Jesu Meine Freude BWV 227
Christ Lag in Todes Banden BWV 4
14 Canons on the Goldberg Ground BWV 1087 (arr. Stroman)
Suite in G MInor BWV 10170
