A Cathedral of Sound

The outstanding Wind Ensemble from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama joins one of London's top choirs for a programme featuring two unique mass settings for voices, winds and brass.

Stravinsky's very personal Mass is a masterpiece of neoclassicism.  Written for his own pleasure and devotion, it was inspired both by Gregorian chant and his stumbling upon Mozart’s sparkling masses in a Los Angeles bookshop.  Bruckner also found inspiration in Gregorian chant, but, like an architect, created in his E Minor Mass a majestic cathedral in sound.
